The transporting of the 1973 Chris Craft Roamer 55 from Denison TX to Springtown TX

This boat has a long history, I do not know its life story but from what I am told it was a jewel in its day. The last several years it had a rough life. I was told it sunk at least once, motors don’t work, wood rot all over and just neglect. The boat was going to be hauled out by the US corps of Engineers and destroyed. My customer purchased the boat for pennies but the adventure had just begun, The boat needed to be towed several miles across Lake Texoma to Grandpappy Point Marina in high wind and cold north Texas February weather. Once the boat arrived at the entrance to the marina it got even scarier. Several attempts to enter the narrow channel with one tow boat and one on the Chris Craft side to assist in the swing failed. The marina employees abandoned the operation and left it to the tow boat driver, the owner and my self. The three of us successfully navigated the boat down the channel, around the corner and into the haul out slip with a side wind, no steerage and no power on the Roamer. Once hauled out the Marina crew washed the boat and set it on our large stretch Waltron trailer. The owner sent the next week disassembling the boat to prep it for transport. The trip was only 180 miles but at 17’10” tall, 16’6″ wide, 106′ long and 105,000 lbs. it was slow and easy.  Once we arrived in Springtown TX at the owners storage yard we had to wait till the next day to unload with 2 85ton mobile cranes. The owner will rebuild the boat and we will take it to the gulf coast of Texas when it is finished. feel free to contact me at 888.224.1500 or chris@usboathaulers.com
